**Dr. Cerling will join us for a discussion of his research in the Turkana Basin on the evolution of the landscapes our human ancestors lived in over the last one million years.

This National Geographic film explores the life of famed paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey and his work with his wife, Meave, and daughter, Louise, in the arid northern regions of Kenya’s Turkana Basin to unravel the mysteries of human evolution. The Leakeys’ four decades of discoveries have given rise to both breakthroughs and controversy this contentious field. BONES OF TURKANA examines the complexity of human evolution and seeks to demonstrate how the qualities we proudly call human were all born in Africa.  University of Utah Distinguished Professor of Geology and Geophysics, Thure Cerling is featured in the film.
