Directed by Beth Gage + George Gage
2012 | USA | 71 min.
The choice you are making today is what side are you on.
-Tim DeChristopher
BIDDER 70 centers on an extraordinary, ingenious and effective act of civil disobedience demanding government and industry accountability. In 2008, University of Utah economics student Tim DeChristopher committed an act which would redefine patriotism in our time, igniting a spirit of civil disobedience in the name of climate justice.
Tim would never call himself an environmentalist. Justice is meaningful to Tim. Justice, meaning that since we on this planet are interconnected, what happens in one area of the world affects us all. Follow Tim, Bidder 70, from college student to incarcerated felon. Redefine justice for yourself. Choose your side.
**Screening to be followed by a Q+A with Beth Gage and George Gage, co-directors, Patrick Shea, attorney for Tim DeChristopher, and Hénia Belalia, director, Peaceful Uprising, Utah. Moderated by Doug Fabrizio, host of KUER’s RadioWest.
Presented in association with Peaceful Uprising and the First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake City.
