In this Sound for Film workshop we will cover basic sound recording techniques and design concepts.

Part I will be especially helpful for directors: we will cover sound history in film, sound design, and how to use sound to build your vision.

Part II will cover technical knowledge: learning equipment, setting up a recorder, mic placements, etc.

If you are an independent filmmaker and want improved sound quality on your projects, this is the workshop for you.

2 week workshop. Limited to 8 filmmakers. Ages 18+

Alexander Woods is a filmmaker and sound engineer in Salt Lake City, UT. At an early age, writing and recording music was his passion. In 2014, Paste Magazine ranked his debut solo album “Saudade” in the top 10 albums to come out of Utah. Since then, his career path pivoted to filmmaking and sound design. In addition to multiple feature films, documentaries, and commercial gigs, Woods was the sound designer for each of his films: Say The Sins, The Wreath, and Deep Blue City.
