Fifteen-year-old Sasha undertakes a perilous journey to find her grandfather who is missing in the Arctic in this enchanting animated film.
Set in St. Petersburg, in 1892, Sasha, a young aristocrat, idolizes her explorer grandfather, Oloukine. But he hasn’t returned from his latest expedition to find the North Pole, and all attempts to find him have failed. Upset when she hears her grandfather’s reputation insulted, Sasha finds evidence among his papers that he took a different route than the places people have previously searched, which means he could still be found! But no one listens to her.
Defying her family and giving up her privileged life, Sasha undertakes a difficult and dangerous quest to find the North Pole by convincing a ship and its crew to sail the unusual course her grandfather took. Along the way, Sasha discovers she has the bravery, perseverance, and leadership skills that will enable her to follow in her beloved grandfather’s footsteps.[/span9][/columns]
