A story of perseverance, redemption, and the love of cycling, Rising From Ashesfollows the outstanding story of Rwanda’s first national cycling team. Tom Ritchey, one of the inventors of the mountain bike and founder of Ritchey Logic, traveled to Rwanda to explore the country after hearing about their love of cycling. What he saw inspired him – talented young riders with incredible fitness, who rode with passion on decades old bikes. After a few calls, and some persuasion, Tom talks his ex-teammate, and the first American to participate in the Tour de France, Jock Boyer (born in Moab) into moving to Rwanda to coach the team. The story unfolds from there as Jock and his new team work towards making history by qualifying and participating in the 2012 Olympics.
