Based on the novel of the same name by Bernhard Schlink, this multi-award winning film including a 2009 Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Oscar for Kate Winslet, is a haunting drama, about middle-aged lawyer Michael Berg as he reflects on the brief but formative sexual relationship he had as a teen with an older woman in 1950s Germany — and his feelings years later upon learning she was on trial for Nazi war crimes.
