Get ready to soak up the summer vibes at Utah Film Center’s Summer Outdoor Film Series. We’re back at Liberty Park for five movie nights in July and August, showcasing an exciting lineup of curated cinematic stories that’s truly unique. The best part? It’s all free and open to everyone!
This summer we are highlighting our annual programs at Liberty Park! Black, Bold & Brilliant kicks off our series with the award-winning Sundance documentary of solidarity and song, Searching for Sugar Man. Then we move into the existentially delightful and locally produced, Nine Days, from our Artist Foundry’s Utah Filmmaker Showcase in celebration of Utah Film Commission’s 100th anniversary.
Our next stop is the Tumbleweeds Film Festival for Kids and their electrifying Oscar-nominated movie selection, Robot Dreams, then the Artist Foundry’s second showcase screening follows with a collection of local short films. We wrap up with the drag-tastic musical, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, from our Utah Queer Film Festival. Each screening also includes a locally made short film before the feature.

In the early 1970s, Sixto Rodriguez was a Detroit folksinger who had a short-lived recording career with only two well received but non-selling albums. Unknown to Rodriguez, his musical story continued in South Africa.

Nine Days
Will (Winston Duke) spends his days in a remote outpost watching the live Point of View (POV) on TVs of people going about their lives, until one subject perishes, leaving a vacancy for a new life on earth. Soon, several candidates – unborn souls – arrive at Will’s to undergo tests determining their fitness, facing oblivion when they are deemed unsuitable.
