Programming Update

(updated on Mar. 30, 2020 to reflect updated dates and change in language to mention in-person events)

Dear Utah Film Center supporters,

As we adapt to these unprecedented times, we wanted to let you know that we are here and working on plans to continue to offer our programming online.

Per our announcement last week we have cancelled all in-person public screenings and events until April 19 further notice. We have also decided to temporarily close our offices and the Artist Foundry. Though we are saddened by these changes, the health and safety of our employees and patrons are paramount.

Currently, we are focusing on the following:

  • Curated Film: Researching platforms to stream movies and host interactive post-film discussions
  • Media Education: Working on adapting a selection of our programs to offer online to provide both teachers and parents with media education resources for students now studying at home
  • Artist Support: Looking into solutions to keep doing what they love to do – supporting storytellers!

While we are looking for solutions to these immediate changes to our programs we are keeping an eye to the future and continuing our planning for the 2020 Damn These Heels Queer Film Festival. There are also many ideas that we have had over the years for programming, education, and artist support and we are taking this time to explore those creative and operational possibilities.

In the meantime, if you are looking for streaming selections from our staff click here.

Please take care of yourselves and stay safe!

Sincerely,
Utah Film Center team
